KEYNOTE PRESENTATION
From consumers to creators:  the importance of getting your work published

As researchers, we are consumers of other peoples’ ideas and research but the real task is to create knowledge and understanding that becomes important to our discipline.  Undertaking research provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with the opportunity to engage in a process of self-empowerment but empowerment can begin and end with the individual unless the message gets broadcast to Indigenous communities and to the wider community.  This paper will address why and how we must get our research published.
